The RCN Unit for Social Affairs and Employment (Sociale Zaken en Werkgelegenheid, SZW) falls below the Ministry of the same name in The Hague. The SZW unit sets out to ensure that work situations are safe, healthy and fair and supervises these aspects.
The unit pays social security benefits on behalf of the Ministry in order to contribute to the social and economic security of senior citizens, parents and people who are temporarily unable to work owing to sickness or pregnancy, for example.
There is also the social relief benefit to contribute to the social and economic security of residents in a financial emergency situation. The SZW unit sets out to achieve a decent standard of living for everybody in the Caribbean Netherlands.
