Custody and acknowledgement
Both parents automatically receive custody over a child born during a marriage or registered partnership. If you are not married and do not have a registered partnership, the rule in the Caribbean Netherlands is that only the mother automatically receives custody. However, parents can choose to both have custody over a child. The Guardianship Council CN can then assist in applying for (joint) custody and preparing a petition for the court.
If a parent has temporarily been suspended from custody because the child has a guardian then the parent can apply to be reinstated in custody.
