Special rules apply on public holidays in the Caribbean Netherlands. If an official holiday falls on a normal working day, an employee must continue to be paid even if a business is closed due to the official holiday. For employees on irregular shifts outside normal business hours, they must be paid double if they work on an official holiday.
The employer decides whether or not to work on an official holiday. If you do not come when you should have worked, then of course it is not applicable that an employer has to pay you (double).
