Application for restoration of parental authority

Applications for restoration of parental authority can be submitted to the Guardianship Council on the island where the child is registered. This must be done by the child’s temporary guardian during the Guardianship Council consultation hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 9:00 am and 11:00 am.

If you are unable to go to the Council during consultation hours, you can phone to make an appointment with the Guardianship Council at your location. The application will then be processed and an assessment will be made of the parent who wishes to have his or her parental authority restored. If no objections are found with regard to the parent(s) and the temporary guardian agrees with the request, the temporary guardian can submit the application to the Court. The Court will then invite you for a hearing during which the court will render a decision.
