Exchange rate differences
Students, benefit and allowance recipients and suppliers of RCN based in Aruba and Curacao may receive less money paid out due to currency differences.
This is in comparison to payments within the Caribbean Netherlands. These currency differences are caused by the fact that payment is only made in dollars within the Caribbean Netherlands since 1/1/2011. The dollar amounts due are the starting point for payments to be made. RCN uses the exchange rate of 1.79 ANG per dollar for these payments.
However, a rate of 1.78 ANG per dollar is currently used in Aruba and Curacao. As a result, a negative currency difference may arise due to these rates. This is no different from other currency differences and can also be positive in some cases. RCN, where a large number of Dutch ministries execute BES policy, has no possibilities to compensate for these differences.
