Every child should be given the opportunity to excel. It is the school's task to guide students in achieving this goal. The Minister of Education, Culture and Science has been responsible for the education policy on the islands since October 10th, 2010.
This means that the schools in the Caribbean Netherlands are part of the education system of the Netherlands. The Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (Ministerie van Onderwijs, Cultuur en Wetenschap, hereinafter referred to as the OCW) wants everyone to receive proper education and to prepare themselves for independence and responsibility.
Since January 1st, 2011 the schools are financed directly from the Netherlands and Caribbean Netherlands Education Laws have been in effect since August 1st, 2011. The changes to the substance are implemented gradually in education. In order to achieve this, schools are collaborating with the Ministry of Education. And with the OCW's advanced post in the Caribbean Netherlands: RCN/OCW.
