Juvenile probation

When a juvenile has committed a criminal offense comes in to contact with the police and the criminal law, the juvenile may be subject to a "juvenile probation measure". This measure is often part of a suspended sentence. When that happens, Youth Care guides the youngster as well as the family.

Often a juvenile is assigned a Youth Care counsellor. Together they prepare a plan aimed at keeping the juvenile out of trouble. The objective is to keep the young person on the right path and to ensure that they do not reoffend. If this is successful, it will be beneficial for both the juvenile and the community.
