Make the difference for a Caribbean youngster in the Netherlands

A few young people from Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba are living temporarily in the Netherlands, often without their familiar social network. For these youngsters, Youth Care CN is looking for committed (weekend) foster families or support persons in the Netherlands who can offer them a safe and trusted environment, either occasionally or, when possible and desired, on a regular basis.

What can you do?

As a foster parent or support person, you offer a young person:

  • A warm welcome at weekends or during holidays;
  • A place to catch their breath, away from their everyday environment;
  • Recognition, understanding and support - especially if you share the same cultural background.

It is an advantage if you speak Papiamentu or English or are familiar with the culture of the islands.

How does it work

  1. You can register with bes@expertiseteamcomplexezorg.nl.
  2. After registration, there will be an introductory meeting, training and support, in collaboration with William Schrikker Family Services (WSGV; highly specialized youth care).
  3. A suitable match will then be sought with a young person already living in the Netherlands or who will be arriving soon.

Do you know someone in the Netherlands who would consider doing this?

Perhaps a family member, acquaintance or friend with a Caribbean Dutch background? Share this communication and help us offer these young people a warm network.
