Holiday

Everyone in paid employment is entitled to holiday leave with retention of wages. From 1 January 2026, holiday leave is expressed in hours rather than days.

Each year of continuous employment with the same employer entitles the employee to holiday leave of at least three times the number of hours worked per week according to the employment agreement.

Example: an employee who works 40 hours per week is entitled to 3 x 40 hours = 120 hours of paid holiday leave per year.

Please note: The employer is required, if so requested, to grant at least half of the accrued holiday hours in one go.
Did an employee work for part of the year? In that case, only the holiday leave accrued during that part of the year can be claimed.
