Post and telecommunications supervision
Since 2013, ACM and the Authority of Digital Infrastructure (Rijksinspectie Digital Infrastructure, RDI) have been jointly responsible for the performance and supervision of telecommunication matters in Caribbean Netherlands under the BES Telecommunications Act.
ACM ensures compliance with licensing regulations by telecom companies and settles disputes between telecom providers. The ACM also supervises the construction, maintenance and removal of telecom infrastructure (obligation to take tolerate) and the use of numbers.
The responsibility for assigning frequencies and supervising the technical conditions attached to the use of frequencies lies with the Radiocommunications Agency.
Post
ACM also monitors compliance with rules and regulations in the postal market. Flamingo Express Dutch Caribbean is the designated postal carrier in Caribbean Netherlands. Courier services are also active. ACM makes sure that parties comply with the permit regulations. For example, regulations apply for Flamingo with respect to the transmission time of postal items between the islands. ACM also makes sure that there is no illegal competition on the services that are reserved for Flamingo.
