Applying for Support Provisions for Home Residents Starting 2025 via Sentro Akseso
Residents of Bonaire who live independently at home but are unable to participate in general provisions due to illness or mental health conditions can, from 1 January 2025, contact the Accessible Desk at Sentro Akseso for their tailored provision. Tailored provisions include services such as day care, home help, meal delivery, or medical aids. Prior to 2025, these applications were handled via the BCO desk at ZW Group.
Social Network First
Not everyone with a condition living at home automatically qualifies. Consideration is given to the individual’s social network. If managing the household independently is not feasible, it is expected that the social network will lend a hand. Only if this is insufficient or if the individual lacks a social network, does a tailored provision become available.
Entitlement to Provisions Established
Previously, care providers decided whether someone received assistance. From 2025 onwards, legal regulations will apply. Sentro Akseso and Care and Youth Caribbean Netherlands (ZJCN) will assess whether an application meets these criteria. If it does, the applicant is entitled to the provision. This ensures greater clarity and certainty.
Why This New Regulation?
The regulation supports individuals with an illness or condition to continue living independently for longer. It provides assistance in daily life, such as household help or aids. This enables people to remain in their homes, maintain social connections, and stay active. It also alleviates pressure on care institutions.
How to Apply?
From 2025, residents can submit applications via the Lokét Aksesibel at Sentro Akseso. This can be done by phone, online, or in person. Staff will assist with completing the application. Sentro Akseso and ZJCN will evaluate the application. Applicants will receive a decision within an agreed timeframe.
