Residents of St. Eustatius will receive their health care card starting July 8th

On July 8th, Care & Youth Caribbean Netherlands (ZJCN) will introduce the health care card in St. Eustatius. The introduction on Saba was on April 22nd and later this year Bonaire will also follow. The health care card is an individual card aimed at facilitating access to emergency medical care abroad for insured residents of the Caribbean Netherlands. This concerns urgent medical treatments that cannot be postponed.

ZJCN Zorgpas

Healthcare card as proof of insurance

The health care card replaces the proof of insurance. Insured individuals will no longer need to visit the ZJCN office to obtain proof of insurance before traveling abroad. The health care card includes the insured person's details as well as ZJCN's contact information. In case of emergency medical care abroad, individuals should contact ZJCN as soon as possible. Additionally, the health care card can be used at pharmacies and laboratories in St. Eustatius.

Healthcare card is not travel insurance

The health care card is specifically designed for urgent medical situations abroad that cannot be postponed. ZJCN strongly recommends that all residents of the Caribbean Netherlands obtain travel insurance before embarking on international trips.
