BIG-registration for nurses from Bonaire
Minister Tamara van Ark (Medical Care and Sport) has decided to grant direct access to the BIG-register to nurses with a diploma from Fundashon Mariadal on Bonaire, awaiting a definitive statutory regulation. Nurses with said diploma are now also allowed to work as a nurse in the European Netherlands.
The nursing practitioner program from Fundashon Mariadal is equivalent to the European Dutch nurse practitioner program at MBO-4 level, but until now did not provide direct access to the BIG-register. This means that practicing nurses could not automatically start working as a nurse in the European Netherlands, if they desired.
The program that is given on Bonaire is recognized by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science and is supervised by the Inspectorate of Education.
