SZW looks back on successful meetings for the elderly
The RCN Unit of Social Affairs and Employment (SZW), together with Fundashon Konsulta pa Grandinan Bonaire (FKG) and the Unit of Social Affairs of the OLB (MOA), informed the elderly over the past five weeks in the various neighborhood centers on Bonaire.
The various organizations gave information about the rights and possibilities for the elderly on the island. In addition to information about the pension (AOV), information was presented about other welfare benefits. For example, about the possibilities offered by Social Relief (Onderstand), that can offer a supplement when an AOV recipient has been cut in her or his pension. Also Child Benefit (Kinderbijslag) was discussed, since many elderly are not aware of their right to claim this benefit if they take care of grandchildren. Those present were also able to have their AOV data checked, to participate in an investigation about the situation of elderly people on the island and to ask questions to the various parties present.
Because of the cooperation of the different parties in the neighborhoods, more elderly could be reached and the various possibilities on the island were presented more clearly. SZW therefore looks back very positively on the neighborhood meetings.

The AOV consultation hours at the SZW office are on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8 am to 11.30 am and in Rincon every two weeks on Tuesdays from 9 am to 11 am in the sub administration office.
