Educational Housing

In October 2012 the Minister of Education, Culture and Science and the Commissioners of Education concerned reached agreements on the educational buildings in the Caribbean Netherlands.

These plans have been laid down in the so-called Educational Housing. They comprise frameworks and requirements for construction and renovation projects starting from 2012. A plan has been drawn up for each of the three islands. It has been determined per island when which construction and/or renovation project for which schools will be launched. The educational buildings plans were reviewed in 2015 and the budgets were adjusted where necessary.

Educational buildings plans which have not yet been implemented in full will be continued or launched in the course of the Education Agenda 2017 – 2020.

The Central Government Real Estate Agency (Rijksvastgoedbedrijf) takes care of the project management of the various projects on behalf of the public entities and the ministry. The OCW (Ministerie Onderwijs, Cultuur en Wetenschap; Ministry of Education, Culture and Science) finances the services offered by the Central Government Real Estate Agency. RCN/OCW is actively involved in the implementation of the projects by being part of the programme team and steering groups.
