NWO organises Dutch Caribbean research week
In the week of June 14th 2021 NWO (Dutch Research Council) will be organising the first edition of the Dutch Caribbean Research Week. NWO takes care of the selection and financing of research projects on behalf of the Ministry of OCW (Education, Culture and Science) in the European Netherlands as well as on the Caribbean islands.
During an interactive online opening session on the Monday, there will be a presentation of the recently awarded research projects. On Tuesday researchers will meet with school pupils to speak about science and research. This is the only offline program part, for which it will not be possible to subscribe. On Wednesday there will be an online debate about the future of Caribbean research. On that occasion a report about research in the Caribbean part of the Kingdom a will be offered to Minister Van Engelshoven from OCW.
The research week will close with a two-day science symposium on Thursday and Friday. This programme part will include plenary presentations of Caribbean research projects, poster presentations, pitches and networking and social components, such as speed dates and “spatial chat”. In view of the time difference, the activities will start at 08:15 in the morning for the Caribbean islands (14:15 hours for the European Netherlands).
Participants can register via the website of NWO for the various activities.
