The Chambers of Commerce and Industry in the Caribbean Netherlands are there for entrepreneurs who are established on the islands of the Caribbean Netherlands and for entrepreneurs who want to set up there. One Chamber of Commerce has been set up for Bonaire and another one for St. Eustatius and Saba together, with an office open to the public on each island.

The Chambers of Commerce contribute to entrepreneurship policy by providing information and support in the area of entrepreneurship. They promote the economic interests of trade, industry, craft and services, thereby forming a link between entrepreneurs and the government. The Chambers of Commerce are therefore an important partner in implementing government policy for companies.

The Chambers of Commerce have several important statutory duties, namely:

  • Keeping the trade register, containing: all companies, associations and foundations;
  • Providing information to entrepreneurs and starters, for example, about starting a business and about available support;
  • Advising the Executive Council on business licences to be granted;
  • Giving advice to the Executive Councils. For example, the Chambers of Commerce, in consultation with existing entrepreneurs, comment on government plans.

Other services that the Chambers of Commerce and Industry provide to entrepreneurs include:

  • Providing information about subsidy options;
  • Providing information about setting up a business;
  • Organising courses and training for businesses.
