Job description

  • Coordinating and supporting: Supporting the strategic communications adviser and management in the implementation of communication strategies that align with our organisational mission in a multitude of areas, such as processes, new regulations, available facilities or new policies, and coordinating the implementation of these strategies;
  • Producing and planning: Using your creative approach and tight planning to find original and impactful ways to spread important information and increase engagement. This may differ per island and production and includes public campaigns and conferences;
  • Collaboration with various stakeholders: Working closely with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. Building relationships and collaborating with stakeholders to communicate our message clearly and consistently.

You:

  • Are a communications talent with a passion for effective communication;
  • Have experience in setting up and implementing planning and can independently carry out communication initiatives;
  • Possess strong collaborative and relationship-building skills;
  • Are creative and able to develop innovative communication styles;
  • Can switch between different topics with ease. This includes mandatory protection code, social support regulations, ChildLine, medical referrals, referral portfolio and more;

The organisation

The management is based partly in The Hague, but the vast majority is on Bonaire. Despite the distance and time difference we try to work as one management through video conferences and working visits. The management is the point of contact within Health, Welfare and Sport for the Caribbean Netherlands, Curacao, Aruba and St. Maarten and for other departments, such as the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations. In recent years, steps have been taken to improve healthcare and youth care in the Caribbean Netherlands, but there are still challenges ahead in both youth care and health insurance.

What do we offer?

  • An appointment in accordance with the Rechtspositiebesluit ambtenaren BES (Legal Status Decree on Civil Servants BES);
  • A competitive salary in initial salary scale 9 and job salary scale 10, monthly of at least $ 3,075.00 and at most $ 4,575.00, in case of a 36-hour working week. Assignment to a pay scale based on knowledge and experience;
  • Holiday pay (8.33% of remuneration);
  • A thirteenth month (8.33% of the salary, with a gross minimum of $ 1,750.00);
  • A pension provision placed with Pensioenfonds Caribisch Nederland (PCN);
  • 168 holiday hours for a working week of 36 hours per week;
  • Temporary appointment of one year, with the prospect of a permanent appointment for good performance and a positive assessment result;
  • A relocation scheme for candidates who respond from outside the island.

Procedure

  • This position is simultaneously open to internal and external candidates. In case of matching suitability, internal candidates are preferred;
  • An assessment, case and/or reference check may be part of the procedure.

Appointment requirements

  • A Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG);
  • A medical examination for admission to the pension fund;
  • Dutch citizenship.

  • The salary is in US dollars which is the official currency in the Caribbean Netherlands;
  • The Caribbean Netherlands has its own tax regulations. Income above the tax-free allowance ($ 20,424.00 in 2024) will be taxed at a rate of 30.4% in payroll tax;
  • Participation in the pension fund is mandatory, including a personal contribution to it;
  • You are or will become a resident of the Caribbean Netherlands.
