The organisation
The Social Affairs and Employment (SZW) Unit implements the social security for the Caribbean Netherlands. In addition, SZW is responsible for the Labour Inspection CN, work permits, employment affairs, and Plenchi di Trabou. A total of approximately 85 employees work at the SZW Unit, of which 8 work on Saba and St. Eustatius. There are many developments in the social domain, and the remit of the Unit is expanding. Among others, a childcare scheme, an Unemployment Scheme CN, and adjustments to the labour legislation are implementation schemes that, depending on political decision-making, will soon be implemented by the Unit. The SZW Unit works towards a dignified existence for everyone in the Caribbean Netherlands.
Job description
The Office Manager acts as the first point of contact for internal and external contacts. You assist with the organisation of facilities management, the agenda management, and the administrative processing of office supplies procurement, e.g. requesting quotations and processing invoices, stock management of office supplies, and so on. In doing so, you liaise with suppliers and the Shared Service Organisation Caribbean Netherlands (SSO CN).
You have a wide range of responsibilities, but the main thing is that you ensure that the day-to-day support and organisation run smoothly. You are approachable, service-minded and open in the communication. In short, you enjoy assisting your (new) colleagues, customers and visitors. You work closely with the Executive Secretary and are part of the Business Operations Department.
Job responsibilities
- You are responsible for agenda management, correspondence, document processing and minute-taking;
- You ensure that appointments and meetings are scheduled efficiently, and you gather information and data;
- You are the first point of contact for internal and external enquiries, and you refer them to the appropriate colleague or department;
- You can also provide information yourself about procedures and practical matters within the organisation. In addition, you liaise with (new) colleagues, the SSO CN and suppliers;
- You coordinate the incoming and outgoing information and post flows;
- You provide support across a wide range of facilities management tasks, e.g. stock management, workplace layout and office facilities, accommodation matters and incident reports;
- You request quotations and process orders and invoices relating to office supplies. You also liaise with suppliers and the SSO CN on facility-related matters. If you identify any practical issues in the facilities or organisational processes, you report them;
- You liaise with a wide range of people, e.g. the Head of Service, managers and team leaders;
- You liaise with internal (support) departments on practical and facility-related matters, as well as externally, for example through arrangements with external suppliers.
Job requirements

Your intellectual and professional ability is at the level of Senior Secondary Vocational Education Plus (MBO+), preferably with a completed training in a secretarial, facilities management or administrative discipline;

You have experience in providing management support in secretarial and organisational matters;

You have experience with office organisation, facility-related tasks and/or procurement support;

You have experience working within a dynamic, administrative or implementing organisation;

You have theoretical and application-oriented knowledge of administrative and secretarial work processes;

What do we offer?

An appointment in conformity with the Rechstpositiebesluit Ambtenaren BES (BES Legal Status of Civil Servants Decree);

A salary in line with the market, in initial salary scale 6 / job salary scale 7 from a minimum of $2.282,- and a maximum of $3.470,- based on a work week of 36 hours. A pay grade based on knowledge and experience;

- The salary is paid in American dollars, the official currency in the Caribbean Netherlands;
- The Caribbean Netherlands has its own tax regulations. Income above the tax-free allowance $21,956 in 2026 is taxed at 29.4% in the first bracket (up to an income of $53,198). A tax rate of 38.4% applies to the second bracket;
- You are or will become a resident of the Caribbean Netherlands.
