Job description
As a Child Benefit Provision Officer, you have a varied and responsible role with a clear social purpose. You contribute to a social society on a daily basis by carefully managing and administratively processing personal data. This means that you check, process, register, assess and authorise data, answer customer questions and maintain contact with colleagues and other agencies where necessary. Your work ensures that people receive their benefits in a timely fashion and that all information is recorded correctly and securely.
Job responsibilities
- You perform counter duties relating to child benefit and legal aid;
- You receive and register data;
- You assess the completeness of the data and documents provided;
- You authorise payment orders;
- You file and archive documents;
- You signal and investigate irregularities;
- You monitor the legitimacy of the regulations;
- You maintain contact with chain partners.
The organisation
The Social Affairs and Employment (SZW) Unit of the RCN falls directly under the ministry of the same name in The Hague. The SZW Unit is committed to and monitors safe, healthy, and fair working situations. The unit also pays social insurance benefits on behalf of the ministry to contribute to the socio-economic security for the elderly, parents, and people who are temporarily unable to work due to illness or pregnancy, for example. There is also the social relief benefit to contribute to the socio-economic security for residents in financial distress. The SZW Unit works towards a dignified existence for everyone in the Caribbean Netherlands.

Job requirements
- You have a Senior Secondary Vocational Education (MBO) diploma at level 4;
- You are able to work accurately and in a structured manner;
- You can read comprehensively (including legal texts);
- You have experience entering data into a registration system;
- You act with integrity and can handle confidential information, including data that are subject to medical confidentiality;
- You have good command in the written and spoken word of Dutch, and you speak Papiamentu, English, and Spanish well.
What do we offer?
- A temporary appointment in conformity with the Rechtspositiebesluit ambtenaren BES (BES Civil Servants Legal Position Decree);
- A competitive salary in preliminary scale 6 (of at least $ 2.132,-)and salary scale 7 (at most $ 3.289, - per month), in case of a 36-hour working week. Assignment to a pay scale takes place based on knowledge and experience;
- Holiday allowance (8.33% of the annual income);
- A thirteenth month (8.33% of the annual income);
- A vitality Allowance;
- A pension provision placed with Pensioenfonds Caribisch Nederland (PCN);
- 182 holiday hours in case of a full-time employment (36 hour) per year;
- A temporary appointment of one year with the prospect of a permanent appointment for good performance and a positive assessment result
- A relocation package for candidates who react from outside Bonaire.

The following order is taken into account in the selection:
- Official RCN staff on Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba (internal);
- Residents of the Caribbean part of the Netherlands (external);
- Other candidates (external);
Appointment requirements
- A Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG); A medical examination;
- A medical examination for admission to the pension fund; participation is mandatory, including a personal contribution to it;
- Dutch citizenship.
Good to know for those interested outside the Caribbean Netherlands
- The salary is in US dollars which is the official currency in the Caribbean Netherlands;
- The Caribbean Netherlands has its own tax regulations. Income above the tax-free allowance ($21,373 in 2025) will be taxed at a rate of 30.4% in payroll tax in the first bracket; In the second bracket, a tax rate of 35.4% applies.
