Job description

As a Workstation Administrator, you contribute to the management of the workstations of the employees of Rijksdienst Caribisch Nederland (RCN). There are about 900 workstations at over 40 locations spread across the Caribbean Netherlands.
You perform all tasks within a team of workstation specialists and take care of the resolution of second-line incidents on workstations and support the colleagues of the Workstation Administration Team. In addition, you provide for the preparation and maintenance of documentation and improvement of the working method, where possible.

The person we are looking for is someone who knows how to combine their technical and professional knowledge with the strong customer focus of the organisation.

Job responsibilities

  • You provide second-line user support (by telephone and on-site);
  • You solve incidents, investigate identified problems, and resolve them structurally;
  • You support the first-line staff in work to be carried out;
  • You install workstations, prepare them for use, and administer them;
  • You develop, test, and distribute applications;
  • You prepare (technical) documentation and update it;
  • You seek connection and liaise with the other disciplines such as network, system, and technical application management;
  • You plan changes according to the changes plan process and implement them in existing equipment;
  • You maintain the architecture of the infrastructure of Rijksdienst Caribisch Nederland according to the requirements of the client by utilising the knowledge of equipment developments in the market;
  • You take part in projects.

The organisation

The Rijksdienst Caribisch Nederland (RCN) is the link between the executive services of the Ministries present on the islands of Bonaire, St. Eustatius, and Saba. Each Ministry is itself substantively responsible for the introduction and implementation of policy of the respective Ministry. SSO CN is a shared service organisation and provides business operations and support in the areas of Human Resources Management (HRM), procurement, facility management, ICT, finance, and communications for all active departments in the Caribbean Netherlands.

Department

The ICT Department provides a single shared ICT infrastructure for the information provision of these various government departments. The department consists of various teams and provides network management, system management, technical application management, workstation administration, and a service desk, among other things. The department has the necessary contacts both within the organisation and with external parties.

Job requirements

  • Your professional and intellectual ability is at the level of Higher Professional Education (HBO);
  • You are willing to follow training in the discipline and to obtain certificates;
  • You have experience with the support of workstations;
  • Broad knowledge of the ICT processes and the associated systems / applications;
  • You have demonstrable knowledge of System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), Group Policies, Active Directory, and packaging techniques.
  • You are in possession of ITIL foundation, COMPTIA+ or comparable training.
  • You have command of the Dutch and the English language and technical English in the spoken and the written word, Papiamento is preferred;
  • You have demonstrated the ability to work independently and also to cooperate well with various disciplines;
  • Knowledge of procedures, rules, legislation and regulations, methods, and techniques relevant to the discipline;
  • Experience with working in a multicultural environment is preferred;
  • You are enterprising and you dare to make choices.

What do we offer:

  • An appointment in accordance with the Rechtspositiebesluit ambtenaren BES (Legal Status Decree on Civil Servants BES);
  • A competitive salary in initial salary scale 9 and job salary scale 10, monthly of at least $ 3.121,- and of at most $ 4.644,-, in case of a 36-hour working week. Assignment to a pay scale based on knowledge and experience;
  • Holiday pay (8.33% of the annual income);
  • A thirteenth month (8.33% of the annual income);
  • Vitality allowance;
  • A pension provision placed with Pensioenfonds Caribisch Nederland (PCN);
  • 182 holiday hours for a working week of 36 hours per week;
  • A temporary appointment of one year, with the prospect of a permanent appointment, for good performance and a positive assessment result.
  • A relocation arrangement for candidates responding from outside the island.

  • Residents of the Caribbean part of the Netherlands (external);

Appointment requirements

  • A Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG);
  • A medical examination for admission to the pension fund (participation is mandatory, including a personal contribution to it;
  • Dutch citizenship.

Good to know for those interested outside the Caribbean Netherlands

  • The salary is in US dollars which is the official currency in the Caribbean Netherlands;
  • The Caribbean Netherlands has its own tax regulations. Income above the tax-free allowance ($21,373 in 2025) will be taxed at a rate of 30.4% in payroll tax in the first bracket; In the second bracket, a tax rate of 35.4% applies.
  • You are or will become a resident of the Caribbean Netherlands.
