As a Management Assistant, you are the first point of contact in the communication with the (acting) Kingdom Representative (KR). You operate in a highly sensitive and complex political-administrative environment in which agility and discretion go hand in hand. You are responsible for managing complex calendars and inboxes and you play a central role within the KR team. You support the team by performing a variety of secretarial, logistical and financial tasks. This is a newly created position that requires seniority and independence. We are looking for a professional who can independently provide direction and define the role.
In this role, you are in contact with a wide range of stakeholders: from residents to ministries, and you are not afraid to deal with senior civil servants or administrative levels. You know how to adapt your communication style flawlessly and always act with respect, professionalism and excellent manners. You are administratively sensitive and have a keen sense of relationships. You are able to assess the various interests and consequences well and you act accordingly. You navigate effortlessly within a complex organisation and you know where to be, what to say and what not to say, and when. You are also the first point of contact when complaints are received: you know how to deal with them firmly, correctly and carefully, and you provide a polite initial reception and referral.
With a considerable amount of energy and organisational talent, you carry out your activities largely independently. You are flexible, think proactively, and ensure that everything runs efficiently and in a structured manner – even when the day does not go as planned.
Job responsibilities

You manage multiple diaries and mailboxes, you schedule internal and external appointments, you organise complex meetings and (small-scale) events, and you receive visitors in a professional manner.

You organise meetings on request, you prepare them with agendas and documents, you take minutes and you draw up action and decision lists. You monitor the progress and you actively follow up on the implementation of action points and decisions.

You provide management information, you draft letters and documents, and you contribute to well-prepared presentations and reports.

You act as the point of contact and source of information for administrative and organisational matters within the team. You answer a wide range of questions and you are able to effortlessly find the right information or refer people to the appropriate contact person.

You arrange facilities such as business trips, office supplies, and matters relating to housing and team support.

You perform financial tasks, including invoice management and the processing and verification of administrative costs.

You manage the archive and you provide for correct processing in various administrative systems and files.
The organisation
The Kingdom Representative (KR) is an administrative body of the Central Government. He has responsibilities in the areas of the promotion of good governance, supervision, public order, island-wide
disaster response and the cooperation between the Kingdom and Bonaire, Saba and St. Eustatius. The KR is independent and reports directly to the Minister of the Interior and Kingdom Relations.
The office of the KR consists of a Senior Management Adviser, a Senior Lawyer, a Project Manager / Crisis Coordinator, a Senior Communications Adviser and a Management Assistant.

Job requirements
- Intellectual and professional ability at the level of Senior Secondary Vocational Education Plus (MBO+), demonstrable through education and experience. For example a diploma at level 4 of Senior Secondary Vocational Education (MBO-4) in a relevant curriculum, with additional certification and/or experience;
- Five years of experience in a similar position, preferably at an administrative organisation;
- You are able to interact at various levels within a complex political administrative organisation;
- Advanced in the use of the MS Office package;
- Good command (in the spoken and in the written word) of Dutch and English is required, Papiamento and Spanish are highly preferred.
In addition you:
- are able to maintain calm and clarity and prioritise effectively;
- have strong communication and organisational skills;
- are skilled in handling confidential and/or personal information.
What do we offer?
- An appointment in accordance with the Rechtspositiebesluit Ambtenaren BES (BES Civil Servants (Legal Status) Decree);
- A competitive salary, in salary scale 8 (at least $ 2,782 and at most $ 3,863 gross per month) in case of a 36-hour working week. Assignment to a pay scale takes place on the basis of knowledge and experience;
- Holiday allowance (8.33% of the annual income);
- 13th month (8.33% of the annual income);
- Monthly vitality allowance in 2025 and 2026;
- A pension provision placed with Pensioenfonds Caribisch Nederland (PCN);
- 182 holiday hours per annum in case of a full-time employment;
- A temporary appointment of one year with the prospect of a permanent appointment for good performance and a positive assessment result;
- A removal scheme for candidates who respond from outside the island.

Appointment requirements

A Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG); A medical examination;

A medical examination for admission to the pension fund; participation is mandatory, including a personal contribution to it;

Dutch citizenship.
Good to know for those interested outside the Caribbean Netherlands
- The salary is in US dollars which is the official currency in the Caribbean Netherlands;
- The Caribbean Netherlands has its own tax regulations. Income above the tax-free allowance ($21,373 in 2025) will be taxed at a rate of 30.4% in payroll tax in the first bracket; In the second bracket, a tax rate of 35.4% applies.
