In this service-oriented position, you support the correct and complete handling of customer requests throughout the entire chain of the Tax Office. This includes both personal contact at the service desk and interaction via other customer contact channels, including telephone and email. You also perform various administrative tasks. As the face of the Tax Office, you always put the customer first.
- You check submitted documents and applications;
- You assist with and, where possible, independently handle requests from private and business customers;
- You work on the processing of various information lists;
- You perform help desk activities;
- You accept documents and assist in their assessment;
- You implement changes in the system;
- You contribute to maintaining a high level of service to the customer;
- You answer various questions by email and telephone.
You perform the activities for all three offices and for both citizens and entrepreneurs on the islands of the Caribbean Netherlands.
The organisation
Tax Office Caribbean Netherlands (B/CN ) is part of the Dutch Tax Office/Customs.
B/CN) is, with well over 130 employees, responsible for the levy, supervision, and collection of the Rijksbelastingen (state taxes) and the implementation of the Tax, Customs and Excise Legislation within the islands of Bonaire, St. Eustatius, and Saba. The legislation and regulations differ from the European Netherlands and other Caribbean parts of the Kingdom.

Job requirements

You have at least a diploma in a relevant administrative specialisation at level 3 of Senior Secondary Vocational Education (MBO);
- You have experience in a customer-oriented or service-oriented position;
- You have well-developed communication skills;
- You have an affinity with numbers;
- You have good command of Dutch, English, and preferably Papiamento.
Finally, you show initiative and have empathy. You want to provide the best possible service to the customer, continue to develop yourself, and actively work on this.
What do we offer?
- An appointment in accordance with the Rechtspositiebesluit Ambtenaren BES (BES Civil Servants (Legal Status) Decree);
- A competitive salary in preliminary scale 5 or salary scale 6 (of at least $ 1.880,- and at most $ 2.984,- per month), in case of a 36-hour working week. Assignment to a pay scale based on knowledge and experience;
- Holiday allowance (8.33% of the annual income);
- End of year bonus (8.33% of the annual income);
- A vitality allowance;
- A pension provision placed with Pensioenfonds Caribisch Nederland (PCN);
- 182 holiday hours in case of a 36-hour working week;
- A temporary appointment of one year with the prospect of a permanent appointment for good performance and a positive assessment result;
- A relocation scheme for candidates who respond from outside the island.

- Residents of the Caribbean part of the Netherlands (external);

Appointment requirements

A Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG);
- A medical examination for admission to the pension fund ( participation is mandatory, including a personal contribution);
- Dutch citizenship.
Good to know for those interested outside the Caribbean Netherlands
- The salary is in US dollars which is the official currency in the Caribbean Netherlands;
- The Caribbean Netherlands has its own tax regulations. Income above the tax-free allowance of $21,373 in 2025 will be taxed at a rate of 30.4% in the first bracket, up to an income of $51,250. In the second bracket, a tax rate of 35.4% applies.
- You are or will become a resident of the Caribbean Netherlands.
