Who is going to counsel the first-year students?
Students from Bonaire, St. Eustatius or Saba who start studying on one of the surrounding islands (Aruba, Curaçao, Bonaire or St. Maarten) receive a form of counselling for a maximum of one year.
Objective of it is to increase their ability to live independently. After arrival the counselling should assist students in a successful start. The counsellor also ensures that the students quickly feel at home in their new environment. One or two student counsellors are sought per island who ensure that students are counselled after arrival on the island and during the first year of study.
The Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW) starts the tendering process for the student counselling.
The counselling takes place in the first year of the follow-up study on Aruba, Curaçao, Bonaire and St. Maarten.
To interest and give as many candidates as possible a chance of the counselling a division per island is used. You can express your interest in the student counselling on one of the islands.
The agreement to be concluded is for one year, with the possibility of twice a renewal of one year.
