Youth policy in the Caribbean Netherlands
The youth policy in the Caribbean Netherlands has two authorities: the island territory is primarily responsible for prevention and the Netherlands/VWS [Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport] is responsible for the more serious youth care and the implementation of family supervision.
In the Netherlands, youth protection including family supervision is a task performed by the Ministry of Justice and security. In view of the small scale, it was decided to place the implementation of family supervision with Youth Care and Family Supervision CN/VWS.
It is the commitment of VWS and Justice and Security that the central government and the Public Entity of the islands work from a single vision towards a good system of facilities, from prevention to intense care.
