From 28 September through 9 October, the Caribbean Netherlands Fire Department (BKCN) will be more visible on Bonaire. During this period, several practical training exercises will take place as part of the training program for fire engine drivers, with participants from Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba.
During the exercises, participants will learn how to operate a fire engine in a safe and responsible manner. Throughout this period, the BKCN will regularly use flashing lights and sirens. As a result, fire engines and training situations may be visible in the surrounding area.
The training sessions will take place Monday through Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
The BKCN asks road users and local residents to take the exercises into account and to follow any instructions given. When you see emergency lights or hear sirens, you are asked to respond as you normally would when encountering emergency and response vehicles.
