During Firefighters’ Week, firefighters visited various primary schools as well as the secondary school. Students received interactive presentations about fire safety, prevention, and the work of the fire department. By engaging directly with young people, BKCN aims to further increase safety awareness within the community.
Firefighters visited a senior care home, where they donated food supplies, played games, and spent time talking with the residents. In addition, during the week, they contributed to a safer living environment by clearing trees and overgrown vegetation.
A special moment during the week was the recognition of retired firefighters. They received certificates of appreciation in recognition of their many years of dedication and contribution to the safety of Sint Eustatius. Through this ceremony, the corps expressed its respect and gratitude for their commitment and service.
Firefighters Week coincided with the international ‘International Firefighters' Day’ on the 4th of May, but above all focused on strengthening connections with the community and promoting social involvement.
The Caribbean Netherlands Fire Department sincerely thanks the residents of St. Eustatius for the warm welcome during all activities.
