During the visit, the six islands strengthened their cooperation and established the key developments for 2026. Topics discussed during this round included fire service assistance, future training programs, professional competency, the “Onderwijs Onderweg” program, and a preview of the JvO (Judicial Four-Party Consultation), as well as other crucial meetings scheduled for this year, such as the Week of Crisis Management in the second half of 2026 in The Hague.

The commanders meet physically three to four times a year to discuss the progress of joint projects and to further strengthen cooperation. This meeting in Sint Maarten marked the first in-person gathering of 2026.

With this meeting, the participating departments once again take an important step in further strengthening regional cooperation and safeguarding the safety of residents across all involved islands.
