On Friday, 6 March, fifteen recruits of the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee completed the first phase of their training, a five-day bivouac. During this bivouac, the recruits took part in various activities focused on teamwork, discipline and perseverance. Among other things, they worked together to set up a camp, carried out assignments and participated in physical training exercises.

The bivouac week concluded with a handover ceremony during which the coaches of the organization Velitt formally transferred the recruits to the leadership of the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee. During the ceremony, the Deputy Brigade Commander Caribbean Region, Marcel de Groot, addressed the recruits. He emphasized the responsibility, discipline and dedication required for the profession, both during the training and in practice.

The recruits will soon depart for the Netherlands for three months to continue their training in Apeldoorn. There they will follow additional theoretical and practical modules that will further prepare them for their future duties.

After this period, they will return to Bonaire to continue their training within the Caribbean Netherlands. With this new group, the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee strengthens the capacity and professionalism of law enforcement on Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba.
