Good governance and local entrepreneurship central during visit of State Secretary Szabó to Bonaire
State Secretary Zsolt Szabó (Digitalization and Kingdom Relations) will visit Bonaire from May 25 to 28. Besides talking with the Executive Council, the Island Governor and the acting Kingdom Representative, Mr. Szabó will visit several companies and social organizations. The focal points of the State Secretary are economic self-reliance, good governance and solid finances. All of these topics will be discussed during the meetings.

Monday, May 26
The working visit starts on Monday, May 26. Mr. Szabó will visit the IND office and the police station. He will speak with employees of the Caribbean Netherlands Police Force and the Regional Information and Expertise Center (RIEC), about the fight against subversive crime. With the Special Envoy for EU Funds, the State Secretary will discuss the results of various trade missions and conferences. Afterwards, the State Secretary will speak with representatives of the residents' organization Pro Lagun about the situation at Selibon. The goal to increase food security through local food production is part of the focal point economic self-sufficiency. Therefore, in the afternoon, Mr. Szabó will visit the Punta Blanku chicken farm. On the same day, the State Secretary will be given a tour of WEB's Water Treatment Plant.
Tuesday, May 27
The day begins with a visit to the Selibon landfill in the presence of the acting Kingdom Representative and the Executive Council. Afterwards, he will visit the MBO school Bonaire. The latter visit will focus on the technical courses that are offered there.
In the afternoon Mr. Szabó has consecutive meetings with representatives of Curoil and the Tourism Corporation Bonaire, after which he goes by boat to Klein Bonaire led by STINAPA, the foundation responsible for the management of the national parks on Bonaire. He concludes the day with a conversation with the chairman of the Climate table.
Wednesday, May 28
In the morning, State Secretary Szabó will start with a visit to the white slave houses guided by FuHiKuBo. This foundation is specialized in the cultural-historical history of Bonaire. He will then visit Bonaire International Airport and end the morning with a visit to landscape designer Complete Landscaping Services Bonaire.
The afternoon begins with a talk about young entrepreneurship at the Chamber of Commerce. Next, the State Secretary will visit a construction site and speak with representatives of the Bouwend Bonaire Association. The working visit will conclude with a joint press conference of the State Secretary and the Governor of Bonaire.
