This is us! - Public awareness campaign launched by CBS

Statistics Netherlands (CBS) has launched a campaign on Saba and St Eustatius, to improve public awareness about data. This campaign also runs on Bonaire. CBS is responsible for collecting data and compiling statistics for the Caribbean Netherlands. It produces statistics on a range of themes such as population, the economy and well-being.

Is the population of St Eustatius and Saba growing or falling?
If we have no data on whether the population is growing or declining, it is impossible to plan for capacity in hospitals, homes for the elderly and day-care centers. We need accurate figures to make estimates and fuelling the public debate. CBS continues to conduct research into many subjects on the island, and needs the support of citizens and businesses to do this. CBS can only achieve this by creating a certain data awareness.

This is us!

This is us! is the slogan of the campaign, and will be highly visible on the islands. It is the translation of the theme population development in numbers. Street posters and an online campaign show how our figures tell the story of the islands’ population. Only when we have these figures can we have an informed discussion about population growth or shrink.
