New class of firefighter recruits begins training
Ten new recruits have recently joined the Caribbean Netherlands Fire Department (BKCN). They were selected following an intensive process that included physical fitness tests, screenings, and several rounds of interviews. In September, they will begin the one-year firefighter training program that prepares them for a career as a firefighter on our islands.

In the coming weeks, the recruits will be gradually introduced to the department and the field of work. This 'soft introduction' allows them to become familiar with the organization before the official start of their training.
Two recruits from St. Eustatius and one from Saba will also be joining the group soon, ensuring that emergency readiness is maintained across all three islands. BKCN continues to invest in well trained fire service personnel who are ready day and night to assist residents during fires, accidents, and other emergencies.
By investing in training and guidance today, BKCN is building the safety of tomorrow. A reliable emergency service starts with motivated and well prepared colleagues. These recruits represent the new generation of firefighters on our islands, and that is something we can all be proud of.
