State Secretary Jurgen Nobel (SZW) visits Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba
State Secretary for Participation and Integration Jurgen Nobel, will make a working visit to Saba, St. Eustatius and Bonaire consecutively, from the 29th of September up to and including the 6th of October 2024.
The visit of State Secretary Nobel is intended to get to know the islands better and to personally discuss the challenges and positive examples from practice. During his visit, he will meet the Executive Council of each island, social partners, and especially the local residents. The State Secretary will also make several working visits on the themes of childcare, participation, and poverty. He will visit various childcare centres, supermarkets, social workplaces, and other organisations within the social domain across the islands. Talks will be held with various stakeholders on issues such as poverty, employment, and income.
To improve purchasing power on the three islands, the Cabinet has reserved €9 million annually to support parents, minimum, and middle incomes, as was recently been announced on Budget Day (“Prinsjesdag”). In the coming period, the Cabinet will elaborate concrete measures. For Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba, the Cabinet has also reserved €2 million per year to strengthen local services related to poverty and debt management.
