Acting Kingdom Representative holds meeting with OLB about ILT report
Acting Kingdom Representative Jan Helmond (wRv) received the inspection report ‘Permitting, supervision and enforcement at Selibon Lagun’ from the Living Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILT) on 21 October.
The ILT notes that there is a worrying, complex and urgent situation. In doing so, the ILT takes into account that there are clear signals regarding the risks to the environment. In addition, the ILT points out risks to public health and to flora and fauna in the direct vicinity of the landfill and the waste centre.
In the context of administrative hearing and response, a meeting took place on Tuesday 22 October between the wRv and the OLB to discuss the ILT’s conclusions and recommendations. The wRv then asked the OLB in writing on 23 October to respond to the inspection report by 1 November. The wRv will make a decision on the follow-up process based on, among other things, the conclusions of the ILT and the response of the OLB to the inspection report. This is expected to be in the week of 11 November.
