Discover unique handmade products at the Market and Expo at Correctional Institution Caribbean Netherlands!
The Market and Expo of JICN on the 30th of November is a special opportunity for the local community. The market once began as a small exhibition of paintings and has grown over the years into a broad market with various handmade products by the detainees. This year, the market is especially unique, as the current director, Mr. Wibo de Vries, and the labor coordinator, Mr. Karel Martis, are participating for the last time. Since 2013, they have passionately organized the Market and Expo. Through their hard work, this Market and Expo have become very well-known in the region. Therefore, the Curaçao prison, Sentro di Detenshon i Korekshon Korsou(SDKK) is also participating this year, bringing more unique products and fostering good collaboration between the prisons.

The Market and Expo offer a varied selection of beautiful handmade products crafted by the detainees themselves, including furniture, paintings, toys, jewelry, and even plants. Additionally, custom orders are possible: from fences and dog houses to other personalized products. Everything is crafted with care and skill (by detainees) as part of the “Ban pa Kambio” project. This program helps them develop through vocational training, work-study trajectories, and work experience, with the goal of a successful reintegration into society.
The proceeds go toward new materials, allowing detainees to continue utilizing their talents positively.
Join us on the 30th of November 30 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Market and Expo at JICN, support the development of detainees, and discover unique products at the JICN parking area, Plantage Aruba. Want to place a custom order now? Contact via email: Aisheline.Lacroes@jicnbonaire.nl.
