Standing Committee on Justice and Security visits Caribbean Netherlands Fire Department
On Friday 23rd of August, the Standing Committee on Justice and Security of the House of Representatives, led by Mrs. Ingrid Michon-Derkzen, paid a working visit to the Caribbean Netherlands Fire Department (BKCN). This committee evaluates and monitors policy around justice and security.
During the visit, the MPs were introduced to the general commander, the local commander, and the guard duty personnel. They attended a demonstration of freeing a trapped victim, were given a tour and informed about the structure and capacity of the force. Furthermore, the cooperation with chain partners was discussed and the crucial role the fire department plays in the safety of the community in the Caribbean Netherlands.
This visit was very important for the fire department as it gave them an opportunity to directly highlight their working method, challenges, and crucial role in the safety of the islands.
