Conference No Mas No More for professionals in Curacao

From the 31st of October to the 2nd of November, the biennial conference on domestic violence and child abuse 'No Mas No More' will take place on Curacao. The conference is for professionals working in the field of domestic violence and child abuse from the six Caribbean islands and the European Netherlands. It is organised by the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS) in cooperation with the Ministry Social Development, Labor and Welfare (SOAW) of Curacao.

During the conference, there will be discussions on tackling domestic violence and the actions needed to improve well-being. This time, the theme of sex education and sexual violence is the focus of the No Mas No More conference. Topics include the cultural aspects of gender and sexuality, why victims are blamed, child sexual abuse and the implementation of the Istanbul Convention.

The conference highlights the importance of integrated support and cooperation across institutions and chain partners, such as the social domain, education, youth care, adult care, shelter, and justice. Administrators, managers, and policy officials play a crucial role in the coordination of efforts and the realisation of solutions.

This conference aims to show that together we know more than alone. That it is precisely the difference in vision and knowledge on the various islands that increases the quality of our analysis and plans. Actually, the 'difference makes the difference' in the phased cooperation for safety.

Professionals can join the live streaming of the conference online; the programme can be found at https://www.nomasnomore.nl/conferenties/.
