Working visit Minister Hugo de Jonge to Bonaire

Minister Hugo De Jonge for Housing and Spatial Planning will visit Bonaire from the 28th of June to the 1st of July. During the trip, the minister will have conversations with the executive council and the island council about the future construction task, energy saving and the spatial development programme for Bonaire.

Some topics that are covered in the spatial development programme are housing, dealing with climate change, a healthy living environment and the protection of nature and culture.

The minister will visit a construction site in the Hato neighbourhood where affordable housing is being built at an accelerated pace and he kicks off the approach to combat energy poverty on Bonaire. Together with the executive council, he will also announce how the construction task for affordable housing will be completed in the coming years.

On the 1st of July, the minister will attend two commemorative events in the light of the opening of the Commemoration year of slavery past. The minister is present at the unveiling of a monument at Washington-Slagbaai National Park.

Later this year, Minister De Jonge will visit Saba and St. Eustatius. Unfortunately, the planned visit to both islands could not take place due to obligations in the European Netherlands.
