The Secretariat of CBP BES celebrates new office and honours Mrs. Esther Pourier-Thodé

The Secretariat of the Supervisory Committee for the Protection of Personal Data BES (CBP BES) has reached a significant milestone in its development. After a humble start in 2014, the Secretariat now has its own location.

Secretariaat CBP BES

In 2014, the Secretariat established itself in the former APNA building, now known as the SSO building, with one room and one employee dedicated to data protection for Bonaire, St. Eustatius, and Saba. In 2017, the Secretariat moved to Kaya Alm. P L. Brion (the former IND building), where it shared office space with the Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM), which provided new opportunities and strengthened collaboration within the supervisory organization. After multiple attempts to find alternative accommodations, the Secretariat finally has its own location. The Secretariat is ready to support citizens and organizations with inquiries regarding the processing of personal data and will further intensify its supervisory tasks from the new location.

During the opening of the new office, the meeting room of the Secretariat was inaugurated in the honour of Mrs. Esther Pourier-Thodé, who preceded us last May, and is named the "Esther Pourier-Thodé Meeting Room". Esther Pourier-Thodé has been the vice-president of CBP BES since its establishment. She was the silent force within the organization and had a special responsibility for business operation, particularly for personnel matters.

"Today, we honour Esther Pourier-Thodé's contribution to our committee by naming the meeting room after her. Esther was a highly esteemed member and vice-president who helped our committee focus on the individual and the fundamental rights of individuals. With the naming of the meeting room, we aim to keep her contribution alive and cherish her perspective throughout the existence of our committee," said Chairman Mr. Glenn Thodé.

Her valuable contribution and personality were of immeasurable value to the committee and the Secretariat. The naming of the meeting room ensures that the memory of Esther will always remain with us.

Organizations and citizens can visit us by appointment. The new location is at Kaya Industria 15E. The secretariat is also reachable via info@cbpbes.com and 7159114.
