Arrest on suspicion of drug trafficking Bonaire International Airport

The Douane Caribisch Nederland arrested a woman at Bonaire International Airport (BIA) on the 6th of May, 2022 on suspicion of trafficking narcotics.
The suspect came from Curaçao, the case was handed over to the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee (Koninklijke Marechaussee, KMar) for further investigation. After investigation by the KMar investigation department, it was confirmed that the suspect was presumably carrying cocaine. The dossier will be handed over to the Public Prosecutor's Office BES (Openbaar Ministerie BES, OM-BES) after the investigation is completed.
The Royal Netherlands Marechaussee and the Douane Caribisch Nederland work together in the fight against cross-border crime, on behalf of the Public Prosecution Service BES. At Bonaire International Airport there is close cooperation to increase the safety of Bonaire and the airport. This arrest contributes to that.
