State Secretary Van Ark visits Bonaire
State Secretary Tamara van Ark (Social Affairs and Employment) will pay a working visit to Bonaire from October 1st till 5th. The State Secretary will, among other things, meet with the parties participating in the Central Dialogue Bonaire.
On Wednesday October 2nd , Van Ark meets with the Island Governor of Bonaire, Edison Rijna, and speaks with the Executive Council and representatives of employers and employees, and with the Chamber of Commerce. On Thursday October 3rd, Van Ark will enter into discussions with the newly launched Central Dialogue Bonaire, the local consultative body in which the aforementioned parties participate. The Central Dialogue consults on topics that contribute to a socially, economically and ecologically sustainable Bonaire, such as labor relations and poverty reduction.
Local labor
On Friday October 4th , the visit of the State Secretary will focus on the local labor market and childcare. Van Ark will then visit the Krusada project together with commissioner Nina den Heyer, where people work under supervision in a safe, adapted environment. That same day they will also attend a presentation about the to-be-established job center of Bonaire, the "Plenchi di Trabou". And as part of the Bes (t) 4 Kids program, they will visit the childcare location "Hardin Tia Sus" in Rincon.
The aim of this multi-year program is to achieve high-quality and accessible pre-school and after-school childcare in the Caribbean Netherlands. The delegation will return to the European Netherlands on Saturday October 5th.
