Minister Grapperhaus visits Bonaire
Minister Grapperhaus (Justice and Security) will visit Bonaire on Monday July 16th and Tuesday 17th for the “Justitieel Vierpartijen overleg (JVO)”. During the meeting he will speak with the ministers of Justice of Aruba, Curaçao and St. Maarten. The meeting takes place twice a year, this time under the presidency of The Netherlands.
"This meeting between The Netherlands, Aruba, Curaçao and St. Maarten is important to enrich our continued cooperation, in a new innovative way, more intensive or in areas where we have not done this before. Together we tackle crime in our Kingdom, and we invest in our security.”
Themes that are high on the agenda this time, are the strengthening of the criminal investigation cooperation, the joint approach of cross-border crime and the strengthening of law enforcement in cooperation with the United States.
In addition to the “JVO” Grapperhaus has meetings with the acting Kingdom Representative Helmond and the Island Governor of Bonaire Rijna. He is also introduced to the new Chief Prosecutor for the BES Islands Mr. Ter Steege and the new judge on Bonaire, Mr. Gerard.
