JICN supports Strea Briante and Rayo di Solo with a Breakfast Project
The director of JICN, Wibo de Vries, together with the directors of the schools Strea Briante, Remsley Nita, and Rayo di Solo, Jubella Balentin, the project leader of JICN, Karel Martis, and the work supervisor, Giovanni Saragoza delivered the first sandwiches on 12th of February. This marks the start of the ‘Breakfast at School’ project, providing breakfast for all 450 children. In this project, inmates prepare sandwiches 4 times in a week that are delivered to the schools.

The schools approached JICN with the project, which aims to provide students with a healthy start to the day.
The Public Health department of the Public Entity Bonaire supports the initiative. A healthy breakfast for children is important because it improves their health and well-being, and also supports their academic performance. This promotes equal opportunities for children so that they can participate optimally in society.
Safety is paramount in the implementation of this project. The work is carried out under the supervision of experienced instructors in a strictly controlled environment. Only inmates who are deemed suitable participate in the project. Hygiene and food safety guidelines are strictly adhered to, and the transport and delivery of the sandwiches are carried out according to established protocols.
JICN is proud to make a valuable contribution to the community through this project, while detainees are given a meaningful way to occupy their time.
