State Secretary for Justice and Security on a working visit
State Secretary Eric van der Burg of Justice and Security will pay a working visit to Bonaire, Saint Kitts, Sint Eustatius, Saba and Sint Maarten. He will stay in the Caribbean from the 4th to the 8th of June.
Van der Burg will open a new building for immigration detention in the Caribbean Netherlands Judicial Institution on Bonaire. He will be in discussions with the Bonaire Executive Council.
From Saint Kitts, Van der Burg will continue his working visit to the Windward Islands. The State Secretary will visit St. Eustatius to see with his own eyes how border checks are proceeding for people traveling to the island. A conversation will take place between Van der Burg and the heads of the Immigration and Naturalization Service and Social Affairs and Employment. There will also be a meeting with Governor Alida Francis and the other members of the Executive Council of St. Eustatius.
Bilateral talks are planned on Saba with Governor Jonathan Johnson. There will also be a meeting between the State Secretary and the Saba Executive Council. The State Secretary returns to the Netherlands via Sint Maarten, concluding his working visit.
