What do I have to do if I am worried about minor children?

If you are worried about a minor child on Bonaire, you can conctact Guiami with your concerns. The counsellors of Guiami give advice and offer support regarding questions about or suspicions of domestic violence and child abuse. Both to victims, perpetrators, family members and bystanders and to professionals.  Depending on the report, an advice follows, help or support by a care organisation such as Youth Care CN will follow. On St. Eustatius and Saba you can contact Youth Care CN with your concerns about a minor.

If there are serious concerns about the safety and/or the development of a minor is seriously threatened, Youth Care CN will submit a request for investigation to the Guardianship Council. The Guardianship Council CN will then start a child protection investigation to advise the juvenile court on what is best for the minor child. If the investigation shows that compulsory assistance is required, the Guardianship Council requests the juvenile court to impose a formal child rrotection measure. The most common measure is the supervision order. The family is obliged to accept this help.
