The Dutch Patent Act 1995 and the BES Trademarks Act currently regulate the patents and trademarks regime under the responsibility of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy (EZK) in the Caribbean Netherlands. The regime of the BES Copyright Act applies for the protection of designs and drawings. As in the past in the Netherlands Antilles, there is no separate statutory regulation for this.
The Netherlands Patent Office grants patents for the Netherlands and the Caribbean Netherlands. The Netherlands Patent Office also ensures that companies, knowledge institutions, governments and inventors know how to use patents as a source of information and inspiration. The Netherlands Patent Office is part of the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO).
