About Economic Affairs & Climate Policy

In the Caribbean Netherlands, the Ministry wants to contribute towards a society with reliable utilities and a resilient business life that creates work and income. A society where sustainability, climate and natural beauty are also at the top of the agenda.

For Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba this means that there is a good business climate and entrepreneurs and companies follow a transparent licensing procedure to establish and register themselves for example.

The Chamber of Commerce on Bonaire has been significantly modernised on various points, while a new Chamber of Commerce has been set up for Saba/St. Eustatius. Entrepreneurs can get advice, guidance and coaching through a starter’s process that the Ministry of EZK makes possible in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce.

The financial entrepreneurial toolbox has been opened up for applications from the Caribbean Netherlands, so that banks in the Caribbean Netherlands can, among other things, insure entrepreneurial credits (also with a micro-scale) with the State in the event of a shortage collateral.

The Ministry is working with the councils and the tourist offices to help the  Caribbean Netherlands with the marketing and promotion of the tourist potential. In the postal, telecom, calibration and energy sectors, EZK wants to actively improve services for consumers.

The Ministry also stimulates energy saving and the use of sustainable energy sources, such as wind energy and solar energy. For the latter, advanced plans have been drawn up together with the electricity companies of the islands.
