RCN takes precautions because of coronavirus
No infections with the coronavirus have yet been detected in the Caribbean Netherlands. Nevertheless, the Rijksdienst Caribisch Nederland takes preventive measures to minimize the chance of spreading this virus. Of course, all government services will simply remain open and services to citizens will continue.
Jan Helmond, director of the Rijksdienst Caribisch Nederland: “Of course we will not close our doors. That would be at the expense of citizens in the Caribbean Netherlands. It is precisely in times of crisis that we remain accessible as a government, especially where the vulnerable groups in our society need our help and protection. However, we do of course take preventive measures to protect citizens and our employees as much as possible.
Desk staff and other employees who have a lot of contact with citizens are extra alert to hygiene measures that apply to everyone, such as washing hands, keeping distance and no hand contact. They now have extra hygiene items. Where possible, services are provided by telephone or email instead of at the counter. For example, the SZW supervising physician no longer receives patients, but consults by telephone. ZVK wants their clients to submit requests for proof of registration and to submit invoices by email. People that have a cold, sore throat, cough or fever, are requested not to visit any of the offices of Rijksdienst Caribisch Nederland. Persons that have returned from a risk area in recent weeks, are requested to stay at home in accordance with the guidelines of the Public Health department of the Public Entity Bonaire. Clients are then assisted by email or telephone.
