Emergency regulation SZW

The ongoing measures due to the coronavirus have a significant impact on the economy and society of the Caribbean Netherlands. Since the 13th of March 2020, is there a temporary emergency regulation on Bonaire, Saba and St. Eustatius for employers, independent entrepreneurs, and people who lost their job. They can receive a contribution towards their wage costs or income.

This emergency regulation will be extended for the second time as of the 13th of October, 2020 and is valid until the 12th of July2021.

There are a few changes in this third stage of the arrangement. The aim of the emergency regulation remains to support work and income, but it is increasingly important that companies and employees adapt to the changing situation. As of the 1st of March 2021 a flexibilization is introduced for the most affected entrepreneurs. After written approval from the SZW-unit of RCN, they are allowed to deploy 25 percent of the working hours of their employees while retaining the wage cost subsidy.
