Royal Netherlands Marechaussee(KMar)
The Royal Netherlands Marechaussee (in Dutch: Koninklijke Marechaussee, hereinafter KMar) is a military police organisation which falls under the Ministry of Defence. The KMar has a varied range of duties and is deployed all over the world. It has been operating in the Caribbean region for more than one and a half centuries.
Since October 10th, 2010, the KMar has also been responsible for border control, security and police duties at the airports of the Caribbean Netherlands. These duties are performed in collaboration between military staff and Civil Servants of the Rijksdienst Caribisch Nederland. This unique combination is reflected in the insignias of the RCN staff and the KMar's military staff. Together, the staff are committed to controlling the borders of Bonaire, Saba and St. Eustatius, contributing to the safety and security of the Caribbean Netherlands.
